Scholarships

There are hundreds of scholarships available to undergraduate engineering and science students in Queensland.

Scholarship can be worth between $1,000 per year or up to $14,000 per year. However, not all scholarship are about financial gain or prestige. Scholarships can open doors in your career. For example, many scholarships offered by a minerals or energy company will also include a paid vacation work opportunity or automatic consideration for their graduate positions. Some scholarships may include chances for you to attend industry events which can provide valuable networking opportunities.

There are many types of scholarships which means there are different selection criteria. For example, prestigious university scholarships may be heavily weighted on academic performance however, university equity scholarships will be more focused on giving disadvantaged students support and an opportunity to attend university. Scholarships from industry are more likely calling for applicants with a balance of academic achievements, a demonstrated interest in a particular field and good communication and team skills for example. We have noticed that the majority of scholarships are open to second or third year uni students but there is an increasing amount of decent scholarships out there for first year students. So, don't rule yourself out of applying for scholarships because you think you may not fit a particular mould.

QRC Scholarships

The QRC offers prestigious undergraduate scholarships in partnership with key Queensland universities.

The QRC Scholarship offerings are reviewed annually however, they are generally open to first-year students studying a Bachelor of Engineering (mining, metallurgy, mechanical, mechatronic, environment, electrical, civil or chemical) or a Bachelor of Science (earth or environment).

QRC Scholarship recipients have the opportunity to join the QRC Scholarship Program which provides opportunities to attend industry conferences, networking events and seminars, gain vacation work and become an ambassador for the resources sector.
